Char-Bo sits three miles east of Derby Center, a quarter mile off Route 105, ten miles shy of the Canadian border.
We are on Hayward Road between Derby Center and West Charleston, a quarter mile off the junction of Highway 5A and Route 105.
Fish the streams and lakes, and drive the country roads on both sides of the border. Within minutes of the campground there are antique shops, auctions and flea markets, an 18-hole golf course, and both Lake Salem and Seymour Lake, along with a friendly town library and churches nearby.

A 27-mile glacial lake straddling the border, the third deepest in Vermont, with twenty islands, mountain vistas and open water for fishing and family recreation. Local legend gives it Memphré, a reptilian monster sighted on and off since the 18th century, most recently in 2000.

Kayak and canoe rentals, livery service and river trips from a leisurely half day to a rigorous full one, with two-day trips for the more adventurous. Five miles from the campground, which makes a convenient home base for a paddling weekend.

Miles of singletrack laced across private land around East Burke, ridden by permission of the landowners who make it possible. Family and beginner routes through to advanced. In winter the same network turns to fatbiking, skiing and snowshoeing.

At Rider Hill in Derby since 1973 and the only motocross racing association in the state, drawing riders from across New England and Quebec. Classes run from Novice to Expert, and the track is five minutes from your site.

A celebration of summer on the shores of Lake Memphremagog in the first week of July: the Harry Corrow Freedom Run, Tubing Tuesday, the Derby Parade on the Fourth, and Newport’s own Fourth of July with bands, barbecue and fireworks.

Built deliberately astride the international border and opened in 1904 by Carlos Haskell, an American sawmill owner, and Martha Stewart Haskell, his Canadian wife, so that both countries could use it. A black line runs across the floor to tell you which one you are standing in.
